AMERICAN PUBLIC TELEVISION ANNOUNCES FALL MARKETPLACE: NOVEMBER 11 – 14, SANIBEL HARBOUR, FLORIDA

Nearly 100 new program offers to be previewed by industry leaders during three-day meeting.

BOSTON (June 15, 2009 ) – American Public Television (APT) announced the location and dates for its annual Fall Marketplace. This year the meeting will convene in Sanibel Harbour on the southwest Gulf coast of Ft. Myers, Florida from November 11th to the 14th. With nearly 100 programs to be previewed, the screening sessions will present new APT series, specials and talent for the coming year.

“This year’s meeting will focus on the newest programs being offered by APT,” said Cynthia Fenneman, APT president and CEO. “We take pride in hosting the only public television meeting which focuses solely on content, recognizing that strong programming is key to what keeps viewers interested in their local public television stations,” she added. The meeting will include two day-long screening sessions dedicated to program previews for 2010, with various opportunities to connect with colleagues, producers and talent. Sessions will also include professional development and media leader presentations.

“Public television is essentially the last venue for locally owned and operated stations with locally scheduled programming. Stations tell us that Marketplace is an important meeting to provide critical content and networking opportunities. APT offers content that allows each local station to customize and differentiate its schedule and gain the attention of its local audience,” explained Fenneman. She said that last year (October 2007- 2008), TracMedia reported that “54 of public television’s top 100 highest rated titles on primary, metered market stations were distributed by APT.”

For information on APT’s Fall Marketplace, go to www.APTonline.org and click through to the Fall Marketplace section. “As we finalize speakers and events, we’ll be adding to the site,” said Fenneman. Sponsorship reservations have begun with new promotional opportunities available. On-line registration for the meeting opens the week of June 22nd.
