AMERICAN PUBLIC TELEVISION NAMES JAMIE HAINES
DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS
BOSTON, November 13, 2007 — American Public Television (APT), a leading distributor of programming to the nation's public television stations, introduced experienced public relations executive Jamie Haines, APR as director of communications during the organization's annual Fall Marketplace conference last week in Tucson, Ariz. Haines joined APT on Oct. 15.
In her new role, Haines will head APT's promotion and publicity efforts, maximizing press coverage on its extensive program catalog, the dynamic 24/7 lifestyle channel Create™, and corporate initiatives and news. In addition, she will oversee APT's business-to-business marketing and will implement new and effective brand management strategies.
"Jamie is a skilled marketing professional whose resume shows proof of performance," said Cynthia Fenneman, APT's president and CEO. "Her experience in public television, combined with her public relations know-how will be a valuable asset to our company as we continue to increase our presence among domestic and international producers and media."
Formerly, Jamie Haines was WGBH's director of national promotion for more than six years. While in this position, she oversaw the marketing, promotion and media relations of all national television and new media productions created or presented by WGBH. Her high-profile projects included: Masterpiece Theatre, Mystery!, Nova, Antiques Roadshow, and many of public television's best known documentary, lifestyle and children's programs along with the launch of the PBS WORLD 24/7 digital channel, among others.
Prior to WGBH, Haines has had a wealth of marketing, public relations, corporate communications experience and management positions at numerous Boston and Hartford area institutions, including AARP, Fidelity Investments, American Red Cross, and the United Way.
Haines has served as President and on the Board of both the Boston and Connecticut Valley PRSA (Public Relations Society of America) chapters. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Kent State University.
