APT Programs Exceed Public TV's Average Primetime Rating
This month, THE APPALACHIANS averaged a stellar 2.5 primetime rating over nine primary station plays. The program proved to be a successful complement to PBS's Frontline: Country Boys. The program peaked with KOPB/Portland's Jan. 9 airing earning a 5.1, eclipsing both the lead-in and lead-out program, Nova and Frontline.
APT CLASSIC MOVIES also earned stronger than average public television ratings. Not as a Stranger, The Magnificent Seven and The Great Escape all averaged more than a 2.0 primetime rating, hovering
solidly above public television's 1.8* primetime average. During the weeks of Jan. 2-8 and Jan. 23-29, The Great Escape was the second highest-rated show in public television's primetime, only beaten by Antiques Roadshow. The Magnificent Seven also managed this feat, coming in second place the week of Jan. 16-22.
