GREAT MUSEUMS: YEAR OF THE MUSEUM SPECIALS II profiles museums celebrating baseball, contemporary art and a child's journey of discovery. Each fascinating program underscores the important contributions of museums to American culture. The first pays tribute to America's national pastime at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, New York. The second explores The Walker Art Center, a Minneapolis gallery which houses the art of the future. Museum scholars, choreographer Bill T. Jones and artist Chuck Close reveal the Walker's role as a creative catalyst for painting and sculpture, performing arts, film and art education. The final special visits The Boston Children's Museum, which revolutionized the American museum experience by allowing children to interact, experiment and follow their curiosity.
