Description

In the spectacular open-air setting of the Temple of Zeus in Athens,
award-winning composer Vangelis has staged a special concert event of his opus
Mythodea. Inspired by mythology and the exploration of outer space, Mythodea
was recorded to commemorate NASA’s 2001 Mars Odyssey mission, which launched in
April 2001. The performance features world-renowned sopranos Kathleen Battle
and Jessye Norman, a 120-member chorus, timpanists, harpists, an orchestra, and
Vangelis performing electronic keyboards and synthesizers. The theatrical
concert is the first ever held in this historic setting, with a breathtaking
view of the Acropolis as the backdrop. Combining dramatic images from space,
the unique setting of the temple and the timeless music of Vangelis, Mythodea
unites the ancient and modern worlds in one extraordinary cinematic experience.
